Statement Regarding Potential For Cross Contact With Our Baked Goods & Dry Mixes

The Allergy Friendly Vegetarian, LLC is a home based start up company, licensed through the Georgia Department of Agriculture as a Cottage Foods Business and professionally insured through the Food Liability Insurance Program (FLIP). We strive to do our due diligence as a home based business, who offers products and services for people with multiple food challenges. However, a home based operation comes with certain challenges when it comes to assuring our products are completely free from the 10 most common food allergens and free from gluten.

Because your health and well-being is our number one priority, we choose to communicate not only supplier sources and any documentation obtained from our suppliers regarding potential for cross contact, but also what our production practices are in our home business so that you can make an informed choice when considering our products and your health and wellness. We are committed to work with you to provide whatever information you need to feel safe about choosing our products. So, feel free to ask us any questions!

Because we are a small, home-based operation, we are not able to budget for product testing for the 10 common food allergens or gluten. However, all our ingredients are sourced from highly responsible suppliers. GLUTEN: Either the entire facility is gluten free, or their products are made on a separate line and products are tested for gluten and certified gluten free. Sometimes suppliers are both a free-from facility AND gluten free certified. TOP 10 FOOD ALLERGENS: At minimum, we source suppliers who process on separate equipment. We strive for free-from facilities. There are occasional exceptions, such as our most recent corn starch free powdered sugar supplier, who processes corn on the same equipment, but cleans all equipment on the product line before running the powdered sugar.

We talk with all new customers about food challenges and discuss any potential for cross contact in our ingredients before moving forward with an order or sale. As we grow, if you are ordering from us online as opposed to personally by phone, email, or face to face, please reach out if the information we have provided is not adequate to answer your questions. We are very much an ally in you being responsible for your health!

Below you will find a description of our production practices for our private order baked goods and for Muff'n Stuff dry mixes, as well as any potential for cross contact, including what specific food allergens may be a concern. Thank you for taking the time to educate yourself about our business practices and products in assuring you or your family member's health and well being.

Muff'n Stuff Line of Dry Mixes

Muff'n Stuff line of dry mixes are made in a cottage foods licensed, home based operation that is not subject to state food safety inspection, except when initially being approved for the license, or when a customer complaint is made directly to the Dept. of Public Health or GA Dept. of Agriculture. Our product is made on dedicated equipment (bowls, sifters, utensils, etc.) in a separate room away from the kitchen, and product is stored in a separate area. However, fish, nuts, dairy, glutenous foods and eggs are prepared and consumed in other rooms of the home.

The kitchen sink area and surrounding counters are cleaned three times, using Meyers or Method Brand cleaners, with disposable paper towels  prior to cleaning any business dishes with Seventh Generation Dish Soap. Dishes are dried on dedicated business towels in the separate business space to strictly limit any potential for cross contact.

Only business towels or oven mitts, which are kept in the separate room, are used for transporting the oven pans. Additionally, all handles and knobs on the oven are cleaned multiple times with disposable paper towels prior to use for private/market orders.

No personal cooking occurs while business cooking is happening. Disposable gloves are used and changed often throughout the process. However, fish, nuts, dairy, glutenous foods and eggs are prepared and consumed in other rooms of the home, especially the kitchen.
